PRESS RELEASE
The attention of the State Youth Wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State, has been drawn to unauthorized activities and plots to factionalize Imo ADC using the purported inauguration of Dr. James Okoroma and other non-recognized individuals claiming to be officials of the National leadership of our great party.
For the avoidance of doubt, the authentic and only recognized State Chairman of ADC Imo State remains Chief Emmanuel Amushie.
We, the youth wing of Imo ADC, hereby warn detractors and impostors to desist from such acts or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
The so-called self-acclaimed “inauguration” of Imo ADC held on the 27th of August 2025 is not only misleading but also aimed at distracting the good people of Imo ADC in order to actualize selfish and fraudulent claims.
We therefore call on the good people of Imo State, the Government, INEC, DSS, the Police, and other law enforcement agencies to verify the authentic leadership of ADC in Imo State. Official records at INEC clearly recognize Chief Emmanuel Amushie as the duly elected and authentic Chairman of ADC Imo State: not impostors.
To set the records straight, we state as follows:
- The name of the so-called Dr. James Okoroma does not appear in INEC records as Chairman of ADC Imo State. The letter circulated on social media on 22nd August 2025, signed by a self-acclaimed “South East Vice National Chairman of ADC,” is also fraudulent. That individual is not recognized as a member of ADC in his ward, LGA, state, or at INEC. Go and verify.
- The letter spread by Okoroma’s cohorts, alleging that the resignation of the Deputy National Chairman (Bala) was signed by the former National Chairman, Ralph Okey Nwosu, on 21st July 2025, raises serious questions: Who exactly are Okoroma and his supporters working for?
- At what congress, or through what legitimate process, did Okoroma and his cohorts emerge as state chairman and executives? We demand answers.
- Okoroma’s so-called deputy, Chief Damian Ezeagu, is the same individual who, on the 6th of June and 5th of July 2025, openly praised Chief Emmanuel Amushie, worked with him, and even collected 600 party cards from him and his executive. This is documented and on record. Go and verify.
- We call on the Imo State Government and security agencies to thoroughly investigate the activities of Okoroma and his group, who are hiding under the platform of Imo ADC. Their actions raise security concerns for the peace-loving people of Imo State. We also reiterate that the so-called “National Vice Chairman” of ADC who purportedly signed the fraudulent letter on social media is not, as of today, even a registered member of ADC in Imo.
Imo ADC is united, strong, and firm under the leadership of Chief Emmanuel Amushie. Any attempt to create confusion or factionalization within our great party will be resisted within the ambit of the law.
