Hon. Chief Bright Ahamefule, Secretary of Council for Ikeduru Local Government Area in Imo State, has been elected as the National Vice Chairman for the South East Zone of the Nigerian Association of Council Secretaries (NACS). He was elected alongside the National Chairman, Hon. Comr. Naankin Mathew Dafoum from Plateau State, during the association’s recently concluded national meeting held in Abuja.
The meeting, which brought together council secretaries from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, took place at Nicon Luxury Hotel. It served as a national platform for strengthening administrative coordination, exchanging ideas, and improving the overall effectiveness of local government operations across the country.

In addition to the Chairman and Vice Chairmen, other key officers were elected into various positions within the national executive council of the association. The new leadership is expected to promote better collaboration among council secretaries and address challenges affecting local government administration in Nigeria.
Hon. Ahamefule’s election has been described as a recognition of his consistent dedication to public service, his administrative experience, and his contributions to grassroots development. In his new role, he is expected to support the national leadership in advancing the goals of the association and fostering improved engagement among members from across the country.

In his remarks following the election, Hon. Ahamefule expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Imo State Sen. Hope Uzodinma for his continued mentorship and encouragement. He also thanked the Executive Chairman of Ikeduru Local Government, Rt. Hon. Justice Nze, for the support and opportunity to serve in the capacity of Council Secretary.
He dedicated the national assignment to the people of Ikeduru and Imo State, describing it as a shared achievement made possible by their support and confidence. He pledged to approach the responsibilities of the office with a sense of duty and commitment to improving the standard of local government administration.
The election of Hon. Ahamefule into the national leadership of NACS has been positively received by his colleagues and associates, who expressed confidence in his ability to contribute meaningfully to the progress of the association.

With a strong background in public administration and years of experience in local governance, Hon. Ahamefule is expected to bring practical knowledge and steady leadership to his new role within the national executive council.
