The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Nyesom Wike, has charged party candidates and members to brace themselves for a determined struggle ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that political power must be earned through hard work, strategy, and commitment.
Speaking at the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Wike urged aspirants to abandon any expectation of an easy path to victory, stressing that success in politics comes only through resilience, organization, and grassroots engagement.
“Power is not given on a platter of gold. Those who want power must be prepared to work and fight for it,” Wike declared, calling on party faithful to remain focused on rebuilding the PDP into a formidable force capable of competing effectively in 2027.
The former Rivers State governor noted that political victories are achieved through dedication and unity, encouraging party leaders and supporters to strengthen their structures at all levels and reconnect with the electorate.
His remarks have been widely interpreted as a wake-up call for the opposition party as it seeks to reposition itself ahead of the next election cycle. Analysts believe the statement underscores the need for discipline, strategic planning, and collective effort within the PDP.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, Wike’s message has reignited conversations about the future of the party and the preparations required to mount a strong challenge in the race for political leadership.
