Pressure Mounts on Governor Uzodimma as Imo APC Members Demand Cabinet Reshuffle and Wider Inclusion

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State have renewed calls on Governor Hope Uzodimma to carry out a cabinet reshuffle that would open up opportunities for more loyal and deserving party members across the 27 local government areas.

The growing demand, which has been gaining momentum across political meetings and gatherings in recent weeks, reflects a rising sentiment among grassroots supporters that the governor’s Shared Prosperity Administration should become more inclusive. Many party members believe that those who worked tirelessly for the success of the APC during the last general elections have not yet been adequately rewarded or recognized.

According to some stakeholders, several of the current appointees in Uzodimma’s administration were selected based on personal ties rather than party commitment or proven capacity. They argued that this has created a sense of neglect among long-standing members who played key roles in securing electoral victory for the ruling party.

One party leader explained that political appointments should reflect both loyalty and contribution to the party’s growth. He maintained that a cabinet review would allow the governor to bring in fresh and capable hands who can contribute to governance while strengthening unity within the APC.

Others suggested that critical offices such as those of Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants should be restructured to create space for new individuals. They also urged a review of departments under the Secretary to the Government of Imo State and the Chief of Staff, insisting that such changes would help inject new ideas and momentum into government activities.

While acknowledging the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, road construction, and economic recovery, the party members appealed for more emphasis on political inclusion and human capacity development. They expressed optimism that Uzodimma’s 3R Government of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Recovery could only reach its full potential if loyal party members were given the chance to participate more actively in governance.

A senior APC figure from Owerri Zone added that reshuffling the cabinet would reduce internal grievances and stabilize the party ahead of future elections. He described the move as a necessary step toward fairness and balance within the ruling party.

Meanwhile, there have been unconfirmed reports circulating on social media suggesting that a cabinet reshuffle might already be underway. However, as of the time of this report, the Imo State Government has not issued any official confirmation or denial.

Political observers say all eyes are now on the Government House in Owerri as residents and party stakeholders await the governor’s next decision on what could be a defining moment for his administration and the APC in Imo State.
