Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has called on residents to remain vigilant and committed to preserving peace and security across the state as the new year begins, warning that actions capable of undermining stability will not be tolerated.
Speaking on expectations for 2026, the governor said security remains a key priority, noting that a peaceful environment is necessary for economic growth, social development, and improved living conditions for the people of Imo State. He said the progress recorded so far should be protected through collective responsibility and cooperation with security agencies.
Uzodimma cautioned individuals and groups he described as detractors to desist from activities that could disrupt public order or reverse recent gains. He stated that the government would continue to take lawful steps against those who promote violence, create fear, or seek to destabilise the state for personal or political reasons.
The governor also appealed to community leaders, youths, and traditional institutions to support security efforts by encouraging dialogue, sharing information, and promoting peaceful coexistence.
According to him, maintaining security requires the participation of everyone in the state.
He added that the state government will continue to work with security agencies and invest in measures aimed at keeping Imo safe for residents, investors, and visitors.
Uzodimma expressed optimism that 2026 would be marked by greater peace, unity, and development in Imo State, urging citizens to reject violence and work together for stability and progress.
