Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to enter the New Year with a renewed sense of unity, purpose, and optimism, urging citizens to work collectively toward rebuilding the nation.
In his New Year message, Obi encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of the past year while remaining hopeful about the future. He stressed that despite the country’s economic and social challenges, Nigeria possesses the human and natural resources needed to achieve progress if its people stand together.
He emphasized that national unity remains the strongest foundation for development, noting that divisions along ethnic, religious, or political lines only weaken the country’s ability to move forward.
According to Obi, cooperation, mutual respect, and shared responsibility are essential for addressing insecurity, economic hardship, and governance challenges.
Obi also called on leaders at all levels to adopt people-centered leadership, anchored on integrity, accountability, and compassion.
He said the New Year should inspire a renewed commitment to prudent management of public resources and policies that prioritize education, healthcare, job creation, and poverty reduction.
The former Anambra State governor urged Nigerians, especially the youth, not to lose faith in the nation but to remain active, engaged, and determined to demand positive change through peaceful and democratic means.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and productive New Year, expressing confidence that with unity, resilience, and collective effort, the country can achieve a new chapter of growth, stability, and national renewal.
