Political momentum is steadily building in Orsu, Orlu and Oru-East Federal Constituency as High Chief Uchenna Uzodimma formally signals his intention to vie for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The Omuma-born businessman from Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State is set to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), positioning himself as a key aspirant in what observers predict will be a competitive race. His declaration, made public through ThePressman Newspaper, comes as political consultations and grassroots mobilization intensify across the three councils that make up the federal constituency.

Popularly known by the traditional title “Ochendo,” Chief Uzodimma has built a reputation in business and contracting circles, earning recognition for his managerial capacity and commitment to enterprise development. Allies say his background in private sector leadership equips him with the experience needed to navigate legislative responsibilities and attract meaningful federal interventions to the constituency.

His entrance into the contest also carries political significance given his relationship with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma. Analysts suggest that while the connection may strengthen party structures within the constituency, it equally raises expectations regarding performance, inclusiveness and effective representation.

Community leaders and party stakeholders across Orsu, Orlu and Oru-East have described him as approachable and development-driven. Many believe the constituency stands to benefit from energetic advocacy at the National Assembly—particularly in areas such as infrastructure expansion, youth employment initiatives, and social welfare legislation.

As the countdown to 2027 gradually begins, Chief Uzodimma’s early declaration is seen as a strategic move aimed at consolidating support, strengthening alliances and articulating a clear legislative agenda. With political activities gaining traction across Imo State, the Orsu–Orlu–Oru East federal seat is shaping up to be a race to watch.
