Youths from Ezeogba and Emekuku communities have called on United States-based medical entrepreneur, Dr. Reginald Amadi, to contest the 2027 Imo State governorship election, citing his competence, leadership qualities and record of humanitarian service.
The call was made during a gathering at the Ezeogba Community Town Hall, Nkwo-Ezeogba Market, Owerri North LGA, where youths from the two communities turned out in large numbers to plead with Dr. Amadi to heed their appeal and join the governorship race in the interest of Imo State.

In his address, the spokesperson for the group, Mr. Nnamdi Anyanwu, emphasized the need for a competent individual to take over from Governor Hope Uzodimma in order to consolidate on what he described as the governor’s massive achievements across various sectors in Imo State.
Mr. Anyanwu explained that the decision to approach Dr. Amadi followed what he described as a painstaking search and careful analysis by the youths for a suitable candidate capable of building on the successes of the current administration, with the outcome pointing strongly to Dr. Amadi.
According to him, the choice of Dr. Amadi was predicated on his intimidating credentials, professional exploits, pedigree, and extensive philanthropic interventions across several communities, as well as his numerous community-oriented activities.
“We are here to urge you to contest the 2027 Imo State governorship election. This is a patriotic appeal borne out of our conviction in your competence and our admiration for your numerous humanitarian interventions, empowerment initiatives and community development efforts, which we strongly believe can be replicated at the state level for the benefit of all Imo people,” Mr. Anyanwu said.

“This decision followed our careful observations and thoughtful assessment of your activities over time, as well as our collective desire to see a capable leader with proven integrity and outstanding leadership qualities succeed our amiable and performing governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, in order to sustain and build upon the remarkable achievements recorded by his administration across the state,” he added.
To demonstrate their commitment to the appeal, the youths pledged to undertake the financial responsibility of paying for Dr. Amadi’s nomination form if he accepts their request. They said the effort would be carried out in collaboration with another prominent indigene of the area, Engr. Bismarck Lumanze.
Responding, Dr. Amadi expressed gratitude for what he described as the overwhelming show of love and appreciation from his people, noting that the confidence reposed in his capacity was both touching and humbling.
Dr. Amadi commended the youths for their strong sense of engagement and responsibility in seeking the progress and development of their communities and the state at large.
He acknowledged that calls for him to enter the governorship race had been mounting for some time, but explained that he had yet to reach a decision as he was still consulting with family members, friends and close associates.
He assured the gathering that he would respond to their request at the appropriate time, while urging them to remain law-abiding and continue contributing positively to the development of the state.
Commenting on the state of affairs in Imo State, Dr. Amadi described Governor Uzodimma’s achievements as “phenomenal,” citing improvements in infrastructure, security, human capital development, poverty alleviation programmes, enhanced workers’ pay and the creation of a thriving business environment.
He thanked the governor for delivering tangible results to the people of the state and wished him continued success in his administration.
Meanwhile, a prominent son of the area and the South East Coordinator, Association of Table Water Producers, ATWAP/President, Entrepreneurs Imo State, Engr. Bismarck Lumanze, described the event as exciting, noting that the youths had demonstrated thoughtful and commendable resolve.
Lumanze also commended Dr. Amadi for his numerous contributions to community development, adding that it would be in the best interest of Imo State for him to succeed Governor Uzodimma in order to build on what he described as the administration’s giant strides.
