IMO YOUNG PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT THINK TANK COMMITTEE ADVOCATES FOR SEA PORT IN IMO STATE.

The Think Tank committee of the Imo Young People’s Movement have deliberated on the necessity of Imo Industrial development hence advocates for the establishment of a functional Sea Port in Imo State.

Speaking to newsmen in owerri, the Okigwe zonal Chairman for Imo Young People’s Movement and a member of the Think Tank committee Hon Engr. Sir Kelechi Ebirim assured that the Imo Young leaders are prepared to ensure effective good governance and industrialization in Imo State soon. But lamented that the lack of Sea Port will be a limitation in achieving some set objectives of making Imo State great.

According to the Okigwe zonal Chairman for Imo Young People’s Movement and a member of the Think Tank committee Hon Engr Sir Kelechi Ebirim he said, ” The Young People’s in governance in Imo State is no longer in doubt. In fact, our coalition movement under the leadership of Dr Emma Amaefule as the Imo State  chairman is prepared and committed to take the state to great heights. Indeed, we have carefully deliberated on the needs of effective governance in Imo State, identified the key elements and strategies to advance good works upon the good legacies already on ground in the state but the missing link is lack of Sea Port “.

Again, another member of the Think Tank committee and the Obowo local government areas Co ordinator for Imo Young People’s Movement Engr. Ezeigbo Prince God gift maintained that the establishment of a functional Sea Port in Imo State will enhance the economic growth and development of the state. He therefore called on the members of the National Assembly from Imo State to take the bill and motion as urgent to ensure it’s approval at the National Assembly.

In another development, the Imo State General Secretary for Imo Young People’s Movement and a member of the Think Tank committee from Orlu zone Hon Prince Akanno Ikenna Stanley pointed out that, the distance from Imo State to the Atlantic Ocean is shorter when compared it from Lagos to Atlantic Ocean. According to the Imo State general Secretary of Imo Young People’s Movement and a member of the Think Tank committee from Orlu zone Hon Prince Akanno Stanley he said, ” The key to start real industrialization in the South East Zone and in Imo State in particular is through the establishment of a sea port. To make this happen is possible and the time is now. Again, Imo State is at advantage when compared to Lagos state in relation to their respective locations and distance to the Atlantic Ocean”.
