Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about possible internal challenges within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. He stated that not all governors elected under the party will remain loyal, noting that some may eventually turn against the president.
In his remarks, Ayodele explained that political alliances are often influenced by personal interests rather than genuine party loyalty. He pointed out that certain governors and key political figures within the APC may shift their support due to ambition, power struggles, or disagreements over future political arrangements.
His statement reflects the complex nature of Nigerian politics, where defections, changing alliances, and internal party disputes are common, particularly as elections approach. Over time, ruling parties have experienced internal divisions that can weaken their unity and reduce their chances of electoral success.
Ayodele advised the president to remain cautious and to carefully manage relationships within the party in order to avoid unexpected setbacks. Although his comments are largely seen as a prophetic or advisory opinion, they highlight the need for unity and strategic planning as the next election cycle draws nearer.
