The African Action Congress (AAC) has strongly rejected the outcome of the Ekiti State governorship election, describing the process as deeply flawed and alleging widespread vote-buying, voter intimidation, and other electoral irregularities.

The party maintained that the election failed to meet basic democratic standards and did not reflect the genuine choice of the electorate. It argued that the conduct of the poll cast serious doubt on the credibility of the final result announced.

According to the AAC Ekiti State Chairman, Makinde Folorunso, reports received from party agents across several polling units pointed to cases of financial inducement and pressure on voters during the exercise. He said these actions, in the party’s view, significantly influenced the outcome in multiple areas.

He stated that the party firmly rejects the declared result, insisting that it does not represent the will of the people of Ekiti State. He further described the election as deeply disappointing, citing what he called a pattern of irregular conduct observed during the voting process.

The AAC called on relevant electoral authorities to take the allegations seriously and ensure a thorough review of the conduct of the election. The party stressed the need for stronger enforcement of electoral laws to prevent similar incidents in future polls.

It also urged reforms that would strengthen public confidence in the electoral system, emphasizing the importance of free, fair, and credible elections where citizens can vote without fear, coercion, or inducement.
