The Director General of the Imo State Investment Promotion Agency (ISIPA), Prof. Jude Nzeako, has expressed excitement over the achievements of Governor Hope Uzodimma, saying that the governor “has recovered the state from decay and a New Imo is born.”
Ezeako, on Tuesday, June 24, shared his thoughts while fielding questions from our reporter at the Imo State House of Assembly Complex, following a “State of the State Address” presented by the governor where he outlined his achievements in the state so far.
The ISIPA boss, visibly elated, remarked that the governor’s appreciable milestones in governance despite challenges was a prove of his visionary leadership and commitment towards the transformation of the state. With the results, he added that Governor Uzodimma has disappointed his critics and other pessimists who did not believe in him.
“Governor Uzodimma is a great leader who has proven his capacity. With his achievements which he presented to the Imo people today, the governor has done what no other governor in the history of Imo State had done. He has disappointed his critics and people who thought he was here for a joke or jamboree and didn’t believe that he could perform.
“Imo State today is on the right path, and I can say that he has recovered Imo completely because all the dilapidated areas in infrastructure, civil service, and of course in all areas of governance have been recovered. Governor Uzodimma hasn’t left any aspect untouched. Truly, this is the good governance that people yearn for.
“And the surprising thing about his achievements is that he doesn’t talk, but keep working. This is the first time he has gathered Imo people to look at what he has done comprehensively, though all along people could see what he has been doing. His works speak for him.
“Recall how Imo was when he came in; from insecurity to unknown gunmen, but those things didn’t deter him from performing. He carried on. Actually, I don’t know who would have done better. Governor Uzodimma has a lot of gut and heart, and I wish that it was possible for him to go for more terms, Imo would be more better,” Prof. Nzeako asserted.
He also commended the governor for his selflessness, diligence and transparency in governance. According to him: “Governor Uzodimma is not selfish. You can’t associate him with corrupt practices or fault him that this is where he has taken a piece of land for himself and family members.”
While soliciting continuous support for the Shared Prosperity Government to consolidate on its achievements, Prof. Nzeako, posited that what was important is having a governor who has the capacity and goodwill to perform, instead of emphasizing on the zoning of the office.
“The idea of where one comes from is not relevant with what Governor Hope Uzodimma is doing in state. What everyone could see is that our governor is a material and all-rounder who has touched all the zones and sectors positively, undertaking gigantic projects that his predecessors scared to handle like the major roads leading to the state capital among numerous others,” he concluded.
