The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnap victims following a fierce gun battle with armed bandits in Dankade village, Ribah District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
The operation, which occurred on August 15, 2025, around 3:05 p.m., was led by police officers in collaboration with vigilantes and local hunters. Security operatives exchanged heavy gunfire with the bandits before overpowering them and freeing the hostages.
The victims, 26-year-old Tukur Bello from Kembawa village in Kebbi State and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar from Budun village in Zamfara State, had been abducted on August 9 while grazing cattle in the Gairi forest of Zamfara. They were later given medical attention before reuniting with their families.
Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, praised the bravery of the officers and their local partners, urging other divisional heads to replicate such proactive strategies. He reassured residents that the police will continue to intensify patrols and sustain the fight against banditry to protect lives and property across the state.
