The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed all its members across the country to immediately complete registration with Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited in preparation for the direct lifting and distribution of fuel products from the refinery.
In a circular issued by the IPMAN National Secretariat, the association announced that the Dangote Refinery will begin supplying products directly to registered members from Monday, September 15, 2025. This move is expected to decentralise fuel supply operations and reduce the cost of petroleum product distribution across Nigeria.
According to the association, marketers who have already completed registration are to proceed with payments and begin arrangements to lift fuel from the refinery. The initial phase of distribution will cover selected states, including Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and parts of the South-West. Nationwide coverage will follow as the refinery expands its logistics operations.
A representative of IPMAN explained that the mobilisation effort is aimed at helping marketers benefit from this opportunity while improving the availability of fuel across the country. The Dangote Refinery, which has a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, will be supplying major petroleum products such as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) directly to IPMAN members for onward distribution.
To support this nationwide rollout, the refinery is deploying over 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tanker trucks. These environmentally friendly trucks are expected to significantly cut transportation costs and ensure stable delivery of fuel to various locations.
Industry analysts believe that this partnership could ease the pressure on Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, improve access to products in remote areas, and possibly contribute to more competitive retail prices in the long run.
IPMAN has cautioned that members who delay registration and payment may be excluded from the first phase of the supply process. The association is urging all marketers to act swiftly to be included in the new distribution structure.
This direct fuel distribution initiative signals a major shift in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, with the potential to enhance efficiency and provide more stability in fuel supply nationwide.
