Imo State born Chief Ken Nwosu is set to contest for a seat as Member Scottish Parliament (MSP) slated for Thursday May 7
2026.
Nwosu, a trained engineer has worked in Scottish Energy (Power) and utilities sectors for close to two decades is one of the respected Nigerians in the United Kingdom and he is seen as the first Igbo – Nigerian to contest for a seat into Scottish Parliament since it was granted parliamentary autonomy in 1999.
The parliamentary seat candidate is running on the platform of the Scottish Common Party (SCP)
He is standing as a dual candidacy for Glasgow Regional and Easterhouse / Spring burn Constituency.
A diaspora source hinted Interstate Journalists For Democracy And Development IJDD that in the Glasgow Regional Voting that
supporters of the Ikeduru born Chief Nwosu living around Glasgow postcodes e g (G1- etc) will only vote for party Scottish Common Party. (SCP) which is Chief Ken Nwosu’s Party.
His supporters were informed that there will be two ballot papers on the election day. One for Regional voting and the other for Constituency Voting.
For Glasgow Regional Voting only Party name will be seen and voted for not individual.
For Constituency Voting ( Easterhouse and Springburn
only those living within this constituency are eligible to vote for the individual person.
For Springburn people that live within G21 and G22 post codes areas and G64 (Bishopbriggs) while for Easter house
people that live within G31, G32, G33 and G34 post codes areas are also to vote
Everyone living in Scotland registered to vote is eligible as long as he or she has attained the statutory voting age.
One of the anticipated outcomes of the election would be to determine how the government would treat the rights of refugees and asylum seekers from other countries including the larger African communities.
The election is expected to produce 129 members as the majority party would produce Scottish First Minister,.
