Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili has urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to demonstrate strong and decisive leadership in combating terrorism, criticising what she described as leniency toward armed groups.
She emphasised that opportunities to dismantle terror networks should be met with action to protect citizens and restore national confidence.
Ezekwesili, a former minister and co‑convener of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, made the remarks on social media following the recent abduction and release of pupils and teachers from St. Mary’s Private Catholic School in Niger State.
She warned that engagement with armed groups without concrete results risks emboldening criminals rather than eliminating them.
Her statement reflects growing public concern over persistent insecurity in parts of Nigeria, where terror attacks, kidnappings, and banditry continue despite government efforts.
The Tinubu administration has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens, including through collaborative operations with international partners aimed at disrupting extremist networks.
