The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that Rivers State will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, while warning politicians who joined the campaign late against expecting recognition or influence.

Speaking during a visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Wike addressed both All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters, praising those who had consistently backed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda from the beginning.

“Rivers State remains solid for Tinubu. No one can push us out or weaken the support that has been built over time,” Wike said. He warned that politicians who did not stand with the administration from the start but are now seeking to benefit would not succeed.

Using a local analogy, Wike said latecomers cannot claim credit for efforts they did not contribute to, adding that grassroots supporters are committed to ensuring Tinubu’s continued leadership.

The minister’s remarks come amid political changes in Rivers State, including high-profile defections and shifts in party loyalty. Wike’s statement sends a clear message that only consistent supporters will play a major role in the campaign moving forward.
“Let this be a message to everyone: commitment from the start matters.

Rivers has always delivered, and it will continue to deliver for Tinubu,” he added.
The statement could have an impact on local political dynamics as parties and politicians prepare for the 2027 general elections.
