Dr. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, widely known as Ada Owerri, has emerged as the Labour Party candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency in the forthcoming National Assembly election.
Her emergence marks a major development in the political landscape of the constituency, drawing reactions from civic organizations, political observers, women’s groups, and youth movements across Imo State and beyond.
Supporters describe her candidacy as a shift in the political direction of Owerri Federal Constituency, especially at a time when voters are calling for inclusive leadership and stronger grassroots representation.
The Citizens Grassroots Renaissance and Human Development Initiatives (CIGRAHDI) congratulated Dr. Akeredolu on her emergence, describing her as a leader with the capacity to bring meaningful development to the constituency.
In a statement, the group noted that her emergence should be seen as an opportunity for renewed political engagement, especially among women and young people who have long demanded greater participation in governance.
CIGRAHDI also stated that her full identity should be consistently recognized as Dr. Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu (Anyanwu Akeredolu), Ada Owerri, in all political and public references.
The organization called on residents of Owerri Federal Constituency to support her candidacy, saying her leadership style aligns with inclusive governance and community-driven development.
According to CIGRAHDI, the constituency has experienced years of political representation that has not fully addressed the needs of grassroots communities, especially in areas such as empowerment, education, and healthcare.

It further noted that her background as former First Lady of Ondo State gives her experience in public service delivery, particularly in initiatives related to women’s empowerment, education support, healthcare development, and social welfare programs.
CIGRAHDI added that if elected, she is expected to prioritize empowerment programs that will benefit women and youths, as well as strengthen access to opportunities within the constituency.
The group also noted that her candidacy has begun to generate political discussions, with analysts suggesting that she could influence voter expectations in the upcoming election.
