Over the weekend, an apex humanitarian organization under the aegais Stephen and Martina Amadi Foundation commissioned and handed over a multi million naira 3 classroom block , with inbuilt toilet facilities , lightening systems and an electric water borehole to town school , situated at No.11 bus stop Old Road , Umumbazor, Umualum Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state .
The well attended handing over ceremony which took place at the school premises witnessed the presence of high profiled personalities from within and outside the shore of Nigeria, amongst whom are HRH.Eze Godwin Onyewuchi Merenini ( Dibia 1 of Umudibia) , HRH. Eze Soronnadi Ekeh ( Omadike of Umuoma Community ), Co-founder of the Organization , Dr Emmanuel Ogueri Amadi , Owerri West Local Government Area Chairman Hon.Victor Osigwe , High Chief Christopher Nkemakolam and host of other dignitaries.
According to his speech , the Executive President of Stephen and Martina Amadi Foundation, Dr . Christopher Amaechi Amadi commended the gathering , he said ” We are handing over a super structure with in built toilet , built to standard and an electric water borehole” he expressed.
Dr. Amadi seized the platform to reel out an abridged history of the foundation , which he said was founded by 2 among the children of Late Elder Stephen and Snr. Mother Martina Amadi , viz; himself Dr.Christopher Amadi and Dr.Emmanuel Ogueri Amadi in memory of the humanitarian guestures of their parents.
Dr. Amadi , also highlighted that the classroom block will complement the 4 classroom block already renovated for the school by the Umunbazor Community Development Union aimed at returning the School to it’s past Glory.
Dr. Amadi who described education as the greatest empowerment , also disclosed that plans are on top gear to provide long lasting desks, chairs and tables for pupils and staffers in the school.
In her remarks , the education manager for Town School Nekede, Mrs Ngozi Mbabie said ” When Mr .Chidi Young Uneze (Apiti Uzoubi) briefed me , Teachers and P.T.A chairman that a 3 classroom block is to be built in our School ,few months ago, we taught that he was joking, today it is a reality Stephen and Martina Amadi Foundation added 8 inbuilt toilets, Sank electric water borehole, GP tank and good lightening systems ” Mrs Mbabie submitted.
She also plead for assistance from good spirited individuals to help provide grass cutting machines , Perimeter fencing and create awareness to the villagers on the need to maintain sanity in the school compound.
In their respective speeches the Chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area , Hon. Victor Osigwe , HRH. Eze Merenini , HRH. Eze Eke , High Chief Sir.Christopher Nkemakolam, Mazi Douglas Eke , and IMSUBEB representatives who took turns to speak commended Stephen and Martina Amadi Foundation for remembering the school in their scheme of affairs as they pledged their support to the school .
Appreciating the Foundation , the principal of Umualum Secondary School , Mrs.Helen Okoro described the mission of the founders of the Foundation as encouraging , she was elated that there has been a very tremendous change in the school compared to when she came on board in 2023, while calling on other community stakeholders to emulate the guesture of Stephen and Martina Amadi Foundation.
