A call has been made for South East Leaders especially Governors to stand up and uphold the Igbo spirit of Onyeaghala -Nwanneya in the ongoing siege of the Region by herdérs .
High Chief Dr Collins Chigozie Osuagwu , a Frontline Igbo leader and community philanthropist who robbed mind with Journalists at Port Harcourt Airport on the state of the nation.
The Igbo Ambassador who frowned at recent developments in the Nigeria South East region slammed governors and Community leaderships on their docility over influx of herdérs who have continued their heinous acts without any Challenge.
Today our local farmers in Agwa, izombe Iguta axis, Amala ntu , some parts of Imerienwe , Umuohiagu Ngor Okpala , Ogbaku, , Okigwe , Uturu Okigwe to Akara , Isuochi , Lokpa -Nta etc no longer go to their Farms due to Rampages by this Fulanis . He said Complaints by One natural Ruler , HRM Eze Dr. Mathew Onweni Onyeishiala of Ogbor Ugiri Mbano on the level of damages by Fulani Herdérs in Ugiri that excavated their Farm Crops and Cassava tubers are alarming as he said the governments have collapsed in offering Security to Natives. Chief Dr. Osuagwu Opined that we should go back to our traditional system of governance if the Centre Can not hold at least to preserve Human lives from. Beasts -like humans. What a country that we are.?
Chief Dr Collins Osuagwu wondered if Igbo Leaders are with their Conscience, observing the menace . Does it mean elected governors don’t want our Locals again ? He queried.
Dr . Osuagwu who is the chairman Chief executive officer of Zeus Marine oil and gas Europe and Nigeria urged Communities and the South East governors to remember What William Sharkspare said that those who keep quite when decisions about their fate is being taken , usually occupy the hotest seat in hell.
Our elected leaders must not fail this test now . They must take actions like their Yoruba Counterparts. I strongly support Mr.President , His Excellency , Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR in his approval of Forests Guards . Let’s rise and do the Needful . Every Igbo leader , Captains of Industries must show support so that our future will be secured.
Meanwhile, reports according to our correspondents are that logistics , funding and administration of the Community Guards are already being tacked by some Communities through deligent Traditional Rulers. I appeal to governments to apply wisdom and tact . He recounted regretting the Proliferations of Churches, and even balcanization of traditional leaderships in the name of New Autonomous Communities that has tended to bring distrust and lack of Confidence in our traditional rulers.
