Wike to Fubara: The Choice for Peace or Conflict Is Yours

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has addressed the ongoing crisis with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking in an interview, Wike said Fubara “holds the yam and the knife,” meaning he has the power to decide how the conflict ends.

Wike denied having a personal problem with Fubara, calling him his political “boy” and blaming others for influencing the governor. He said he offered peace, but it’s up to Fubara to choose if he wants genuine reconciliation or not.

Former militant leader Tompolo urged Wike to forgive Fubara for the sake of peace, but Wike’s camp rejected the appeal, saying forgiveness can only happen if Fubara admits any wrongdoing.

In a surprising twist, President Bola Tinubu reportedly suspended Fubara and appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas (retd.) as the sole administrator of Rivers State. This move has raised serious concerns about its legality and the future of democratic governance in the state.
