Social advocate and media personality, Okwuluora, has publicly criticized Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah over the government’s claim of constructing 260 “Smart Schools” across the state, calling the project deceptive and politically motivated.
In a strongly worded statement, Okwuluora described the majority of the schools as poorly constructed structures that resemble local shops, with the only visibly standard one located in the Governor’s own village. He accused the administration of using the Smart School initiative as a propaganda tool rather than a genuine investment in education.
“There’s already a public school in nearly every ward. Why not equip and upgrade them instead of wasting resources on cosmetic projects?” he questioned.
Okwuluora also condemned the government’s rising tax policies, including what he described as a controversial “per bottle VAT” imposed on beer parlours. He warned that such harsh economic measures are strangling small businesses and forcing the urban poor back to the villages — while the same tax revenue is being funneled into unimpactful rural projects.
“Anyone who refuses to listen to the plight of the poor will not go far,” he said. “Enugu deserves honest leadership, not fairytales.”
Okwuluora reaffirmed his commitment to speaking truth to power, declaring he will never support injustice or remain silent in the face of government insensitivity.
