Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stated that the South East should not expect to produce Nigeria’s president in the 2027 general elections. According to Umahi, while the ambition of the Igbo people to lead the country is legitimate, the timing is not yet right.
He cautioned that some politicians are using emotional and deceptive tactics to mislead the public, especially within the South East. Umahi urged the Igbo community to remain united, politically strategic, and focused on national development rather than being swayed by sentiments.
He added that true leadership comes with preparation and timing, and the South East must position itself wisely if it hopes to attain the presidency in the future.
