Governor Umo Eno has announced the immediate dissolution of all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions in Akwa Ibom State. The announcement marks a significant development in the ongoing restructuring of the state’s governance framework.
The decision was conveyed through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah. According to the statement, the dissolution is backed by the provisions of the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law of 2023, which empowers the governor to take such actions in the interest of effective administration.
All chairmen and members of the affected boards and commissions have been directed to hand over any government property or documents in their possession to the most senior officers in their respective offices. The governor extended his appreciation to the outgoing members for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavors.
This action follows a similar move earlier in the year when Governor Eno dissolved the entire State Executive Council, including commissioners and special advisers. At the time, he emphasized that the decision was aimed at repositioning the government for better performance and was not a punitive measure against any individual.
