Akure, Nigeria – In a remarkable academic achievement, 240 students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure have graduated with first class honours during the institution’s 36th convocation ceremony, held on November 14–15, 2025. The convocation celebrated the excellence and dedication of FUTA students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
A total of 2,747 undergraduates were awarded degrees at the ceremony. Among them, 1,479 earned second class upper division, 912 second class lower division, and 116 third class degrees. In addition, 867 postgraduate students were conferred advanced degrees, including 627 M.Tech, 86 postgraduate diplomas, and 154 PhDs, highlighting the university’s commitment to advanced research and professional development.
The best graduating student, Akindunbi Aduragbemi Isaac from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, achieved an outstanding CGPA of 4.98 out of 5.0, earning special recognition for academic excellence.
Speaking at the ceremony, FUTA vice-chancellor Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji attributed the milestone to the university’s focus on high-quality education, research-driven teaching, and a conducive learning environment. She said that the students’ success is a testament to FUTA’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation.
The convocation lecture was delivered by Adetokunbo Kayode SAN, former Attorney-General and Minister, who encouraged the graduating students to apply their knowledge to national development and global competitiveness.
This year’s ceremony not only marked the academic accomplishments of the students but also reinforced FUTA’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions for technology and innovation.
