EZE DR A.O. OZURUOHA CONSTITUTES, INAUGURATES 2026 CORONATION AND IRIJI COMMITTEE

The Paramount Traditional Ruler of Uwaorie Autonomous Community in Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, His Royal Highness, Eze Dr A.O. Ozuruoha, on February 22, 2026, formally constituted and inaugurated the 2026 Coronation and Iriji (New Yam Festival) Committee.

The inauguration ceremony, held within the Owerri, marked the official commencement of preparations for the forthcoming coronation and Iriji festival, described as epoch-making and historic events for the people of Uwaorie Autonomous Community.

Addressing members of the newly inaugurated committee, Eze Dr A.O. Ozuruoha charged them to discharge their duties with dedication, transparency, and a strong sense of responsibility. He noted that the events would not only celebrate his coronation but also serve as a cultural renaissance for the community, showcasing its rich heritage, unity, and agricultural traditions.

The monarch emphasized that the Iriji festival remains a significant cultural celebration among the Igbo people, symbolizing thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and fostering communal harmony. He expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver a well-organized and memorable event that would attract indigenes at home and in the diaspora, as well as dignitaries from across the state and beyond.

According to him, the committee has been carefully selected to ensure effective planning and coordination of activities, including logistics, security, publicity, and fundraising, ahead of the grand celebration in 2026.

Community leaders and stakeholders present at the event commended the royal father for his proactive leadership and pledged their full support to ensure the success of the coronation and Iriji festival.

The inauguration of the 2026 Coronation and Iriji Committee signals a new chapter in the history of Uwaorie Autonomous Community as it prepares to host what is expected to be one of the most significant cultural and traditional gatherings in the area.
