The Federal Government has announced plans to evacuate about 700 more Nigerians currently residing in South Africa, as part of ongoing efforts to assist citizens facing various challenges in the country.
Officials disclosed that the evacuation exercise is being coordinated through relevant government agencies in collaboration with diplomatic missions to ensure the safe return of affected nationals.
According to authorities, the move is part of a broader humanitarian response aimed at protecting Nigerians abroad who may be in vulnerable or difficult conditions.
The government noted that arrangements are being finalized to facilitate the orderly movement of the evacuees, while ensuring proper documentation and verification before departure.
It also assured that returning citizens will be received and supported upon arrival in Nigeria through existing reintegration frameworks designed for returnees.
The latest planned evacuation follows previous phases in which Nigerians were brought back from South Africa and other countries experiencing civil unrest, economic hardship, or security concerns.
Officials emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to the welfare and safety of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
Further details on the evacuation schedule are expected to be released in the coming days.
