A man, whose identity remains unknown, residing in the Nekede area of Owerri-west Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo state, allegedly murdered his wife upon discovering her with another man on their marital bed.
According to a widely circulated video, a neighbor alerted the husband upon witnessing his wife entering their bedroom with her suspected lover. Reacting swiftly, the enraged husband returned home and found his wife and her companion in their bedroom, leaving their 6-year-old daughter unattended in the living room.
Infuriated, the husband proceeded to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and inflicted several deep wounds on his wife.
A resident of Nekede, who spoke anonymously to our reporter, stated that the woman succumbed to her injuries from the husband’s violent attack. The resident noted that while the wife’s actions were condemned for bringing another man into their marital home, the husband’s response was excessive and unjustifiable.
Another resident, who requested anonymity, claimed that the woman was not deceased but in a coma at a hospital, while the whereabouts of the husband remained unknown.
When reached for comment, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, acknowledged awareness of the incident. However, he stated that the incident had not been officially reported to the police. Nonetheless, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
The police spokesperson urged residents, particularly those in Nekede, to come forward with any information related to the incident and collaborate with law enforcement to ensure justice prevails. He provided a contact number for individuals to report any relevant information.
