The Nigeria Police Force has trained 325 of its personnel in the handling of explosive devices and in responding to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.
The comprehensive training is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and enhance the police force’s capacity to respond to modern-day threats. The officers were equipped with technical skills in detecting, defusing, and safely managing explosive materials, as well as in containing hazardous chemical and radiological incidents.
Police authorities explained that the program covered areas such as bomb detection and disposal, hazard assessment, decontamination, and emergency response coordination. Participants were also exposed to international best practices aimed at improving their effectiveness in managing both terrorist and industrial emergencies.
The Inspector General of Police commended the officers for their commitment and emphasized that the training would greatly enhance the operational readiness of the force. He noted that the initiative aligns with ongoing reforms designed to build a safer and more resilient nation.
Security experts have praised the program as timely and strategic, noting that it comes at a period of increasing global and domestic security concerns. The deployment of trained personnel across the country is expected to improve the police force’s response to emergencies and boost public confidence in law enforcement.
