The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, winner of the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election, securing a second term in office with a landslide victory.
The election, held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, saw Governor Soludo clinch an overwhelming 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled 99,445 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate came third with 73,212 votes, while other parties trailed behind.
Announcing the results at the INEC headquarters in Awka, the State Returning Officer commended the electorate for their peaceful conduct and described the process as largely free, fair, and transparent. Soludo’s victory spanned across all 21 local government areas of the state, underscoring his popularity and the broad acceptance of his administration’s policies.
In his victory speech, Governor Soludo expressed profound gratitude to the people of Anambra State for renewing their trust in his leadership. He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his first term, with particular focus on infrastructural development, economic expansion, and youth empowerment.
This victory belongs to every Ndi Anambra. It is a call to service, unity, and progress. We will continue to build a prosperous and livable homeland for our people, Soludo said.
Political analysts attribute Soludo’s decisive win to his performance in office, particularly in areas such as road rehabilitation, digital governance, and his efforts to attract investment to the state. His re-election also reaffirms APGA’s stronghold in Anambra, the only state in Nigeria consistently governed by the regional party since 2006.
As Soludo prepares to begin his second term, expectations are high among residents for continuity, deeper reforms, and sustained development across the state.
