Nigeria’s fuel supply capacity received a major boost in November as the Dangote Petroleum Refinery delivered an average of 23.5 million litres of petrol per day, marking one of its strongest output levels since the facility began phased operations earlier this year.

The increased production has contributed to improved nationwide fuel availability, easing pressures in regions that previously experienced intermittent scarcity. Industry observers say the sustained output signals growing stability in the downstream oil sector, as Nigeria works to reduce its dependence on imported refined products.

According to officials familiar with the refinery’s operations, the November supply figures reflect heightened production efficiency and strengthened crude oil feedstock arrangements. They added that the facility is steadily ramping up towards its optimal refining capacity, aligning with the company’s target of becoming a primary driver of domestic fuel security.

Market operators have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that consistent supply from the refinery could help stabilize fuel distribution, reduce logistical disruptions, and potentially influence pump prices positively in the coming months.

The multi-billion-dollar Dangote Refinery currently the world’s largest single-train refining complex remains a critical component of Nigeria’s broader strategy to reform and strengthen the petroleum value chain. Its rising output is expected to play a transformative role in the nation’s energy landscape and economic growth trajectory.
