The Principal of irremovability or statute of tenure for elective positions, is an important safeguard of the rule of law but in this part of our clime, to replace or recall an alleged poorly performing legislator, is unfortunately a subject to greater difficulties except the re-election periods like now, that a strong association known as Orsu, Oru East and Orlu Elite Volunteers have risen to stop their Federal House Member, Rt. Hon. Cannicemoore Nwachukwu from an alleged second term ambition and they have humbly appealed to the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma and other key Political gladiators to support their passionate appeal for a credible person to serve them in the green chamber, come 2027.
This move to drop their Federal House Member, was announced by its diaspora coordinator , Chief Dr. Mberede while delivering their 2025 annual Performance evaluation report at a recent nation wide conference in Lagos.
Flipping through the well embellished annual report, one sees the group’s overall aims, target, achievements in 2025 but feels shocked to the marrow when the group insists that the job of lawmaking at the national level, is not for neophytes who will go there and start with the learning processes when his trained colleagues are already enjoying the benefits. That Orlu, Orsu and Oru East should have filed a candidate with a cognate experience in lawmaking and drafting especially a lawyer by profession like what Barr. Ugochinyere is perfectly doing in his Ideator Federal Constituency, or a former House of Assembly member. They described Orsu, Oru East and Orlu as the least developed Federal Constituency in Nigeria referencing lack of; electricity, water, agro- industries, small scale industries providing consumer goods, lack of small scale loans for entrepreneurs in the rural areas, lack of infrastructural facilities, lack of motorable roads in Amiri , Awo-mamma and the entire Orsu LGA.
The group insisted that within the past few years, Orlu Federal Constituency has lost its louder voice in Abuja because of the mistake to supply a leadership that is willing and ready to initiate development programmes that can lead to effective use of scarce resources. ” When we talk in terms of leadership, we mean men of sufficient ability and initiative to see and exploit opportunities like Rt Hon. Barr. Ugochinyere, His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Rt. Hon Eugene Dibiagwu , Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo( OZB communication) Rt. Hon. Jerry Alagboso and few others in Imo State. “These are men with political acumen and bargaining ability, willing to upgrade the living standards of the broad strata of the population in real terms.
The group noted, that since the issue of insecurity that nearly turned some communities in the Orlu Federal Constituency into ghost towns, the Federal lawmaker cannot boast of a program to reduce the high level of rural Urban migration among his Constituence, his own community, has been in daggers drown over the kingship matters and he has not openly embrace the popular decision of the community as a proponent of democracy. That Orlu, Orsu and Oru East have a large majority of people who are living in almost sub human existence in conditions of abject poverty and to whom, life is one long unbroken story of want and destitution.
To me, Journalist Hamilton Onuchukwu, I remember to have heard it observed by a very learned man up such occasion that even GOD himself did not pass sentence on Adam before he was called up to make his defence .
