The Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has officially dissolved several tactical units, including the well-known Tiger Base, Lion Squad, and other special formations, in a sweeping restructuring aimed at reshaping policing operations and restoring public confidence.
The Command has now launched the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), a new specialized security formation designed to take the lead in addressing kidnapping, armed robbery, cult-related violence, and other forms of violent crime across Imo State.
The official unveiling of the VCRU reportedly attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including the military, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary agencies, highlighting the importance of the initiative in strengthening internal security collaboration.
