The Citizens Grassroot Renaissance and Human Development Initiatives (CIGRAHDI) has declared its commitment to supporting credible, competent, and trustworthy candidates who demonstrate a genuine dedication to public service, accountability, and national development.
The organization stated that Nigeria’s democratic process can only produce positive results when citizens support leaders with integrity, transparency, and a proven record of service. According to the group, the country’s progress depends on electing individuals who place the interests of the people above personal and political considerations.
CIGRAHDI noted that corruption remains one of the major obstacles to development in Nigeria, stressing that public office holders must be committed to honesty, good governance, and the prudent management of public resources. The group said it will continue to identify and support candidates whose character and leadership qualities reflect these values.
The organization further observed that Nigerians are increasingly demanding responsible leadership capable of addressing the nation’s economic, social, and security challenges. It urged political actors to focus on issue-based campaigns and policies that directly impact the welfare of the people.
Speaking on the recent incident in Oyo State, CIGRAHDI described the development as disturbing and a reflection of the growing security concerns facing many parts of the country. The group expressed sympathy with affected individuals and communities while calling for urgent action to prevent a recurrence.
Consequently, CIGRAHDI called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to issue a marching order to all relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure that they are brought to justice without delay.
The organization stated that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done in order to restore public confidence in the nation’s security and judicial systems. It maintained that holding perpetrators accountable would serve as a deterrent to others engaged in criminal activities.
CIGRAHDI also expressed concern over the increasing rate of insecurity across the country, including incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, violent attacks, and other criminal activities that continue to threaten the safety and well-being of citizens.
The group urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts aimed at tackling insecurity through improved intelligence gathering, effective collaboration among security agencies, and the provision of adequate resources to combat criminal elements.
According to the organization, protecting lives and property remains one of the primary responsibilities of government and should be treated as a matter of utmost priority. It added that citizens deserve to live and conduct their daily activities in a peaceful and secure environment.
CIGRAHDI further called on community leaders, traditional institutions, religious bodies, and civil society organizations to work closely with security agencies in promoting peace and identifying potential threats within their communities.
The organization encouraged Nigerians to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of legitimate efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across the nation. It noted that cooperation between citizens and security agencies is essential in the fight against crime and insecurity.
CIGRAHDI pledged to continue advocating policies and initiatives that promote human development, social justice, good governance, and national unity for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The group concluded by urging Nigerians to support leaders who possess integrity, competence, and a genuine desire to serve the people, expressing confidence that the nation can overcome its challenges through responsible leadership, accountability, and collective action.
