President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Friday playfully praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his rapid execution of infrastructure projects, joking that the minister had “learnt from me” before telling him to “take it easy.”
Akpabio made the remark during the inauguration of completed projects in the FCT, where he commended Wike’s commitment to transforming the nation’s capital through road construction, urban renewal, and other key infrastructure initiatives.
Speaking before government officials and invited guests, the Senate President applauded the minister’s performance, describing the pace of project delivery as remarkable. In a lighthearted moment that drew laughter from the audience, Akpabio joked that Wike had mastered the art of delivering projects from him but advised him to “take it easy,” suggesting that he was commissioning projects at such a fast pace that little might be left for future administrations to inaugurate.
The exchange highlighted the cordial relationship between the two political leaders and underscored the Federal Government’s renewed emphasis on infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory.
Residents and stakeholders have continued to commend the ongoing transformation across Abuja, with several completed and ongoing projects aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities, and enhancing the overall quality of life in the nation’s capital.
