…President Returns From Paris, Set to Resume Official Duties in Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria after spending 28 days abroad on what the Presidency described as a working vacation.
The President’s return marks the end of his extended stay in Europe, during which he spent time in both London and Paris while holding a number of official and diplomatic engagements.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 and initially embarked on a three-week working vacation. He subsequently extended his stay before finally leaving Paris for Lagos on Tuesday.
According to the Presidency, the President is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where he will begin a series of engagements before returning to Abuja.
During his time in Paris, Tinubu held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and other prominent figures as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic relationships.
The President also met with businessman Vincent Bolloré and participated in engagements focused on investment, economic cooperation and other areas of mutual interest between Nigeria and France.
His return to Nigeria comes as the country prepares for activities surrounding the Independence Day celebrations.
The Presidency said Tinubu is expected to honour the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, popularly known as MKO Abiola, in Lagos. He is also expected to attend the premiere of a film documenting the life and legacy of the late businessman and politician.
The President’s decision to return through Lagos, rather than Abuja, is also expected to provide an opportunity for him to hold political meetings and other engagements before proceeding to the nation’s capital.
Tinubu’s prolonged stay abroad had attracted considerable public and political attention, with questions raised in some quarters about the length of his absence from the country. The Presidency, however, maintained that the trip was a working vacation during which the President continued to undertake official engagements.
With his return, attention is now expected to shift to the President’s next official activities and the issues facing his administration at home.
The President’s arrival also comes at a time when Nigerians are closely watching developments around the economy, governance, security and the implementation of the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms.
Tinubu is expected to resume his duties fully in Nigeria following the conclusion of his European trip, while further details of his schedule and engagements are expected to be announced by the Presidency.
