The Supervisory Councillor for Education and Social Services in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, Pastor Honourable Gloria Emeruo, popularly known as Mummy T, has called for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubuβs re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that a second term would enable him to take Nigeria to greater heights.
Emeruo made the call on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Ikeduru Local Government Council headquarters in Iho while speaking with our reporter on the sidelines of a stakeholdersβ meeting organised by the Ikeduru Shared Prosperity Team of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She maintained that President Tinubu meant well for the country and had demonstrated good intentions through his actions since assuming office, adding that he deserved a second term to consolidate his administrationβs programmes and policies.
According to her, βThe President should be allowed to complete his eight years. It is his constitutional right, like former leaders who served two terms. A second term in office will enable him to consolidate his programmes and policies for the benefit of Nigerians.β
While acknowledging the economic difficulties Nigerians have faced following President Tinubuβs reforms, Emeruo defended the policies, describing them as necessary measures for the countryβs survival and long-term development.
The National Coordinator of the New Nigeria Advocacy for Good Governance also highlighted the enormous costs and challenges associated with rebuilding a damaged system, urging Nigerians to exercise patience with the present administration.
βIt is very difficult to rebuild a damaged system, and it costs much, as we can see with the present administration. We have heard about the removal of fuel subsidy and the challenges associated with it. But I advise Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu because he has good intentions for Nigerians,β she said.
Expressing optimism about the countryβs future, the cleric of His Rest Assembly predicted that Nigeria would experience improvement if Tinubu secured a second term. She also attributed his emergence as President to divine providence, urging Nigerians to support his administration.
She said, βLet me remind us that God gives honour to whom He wishes. Nothing happens without Godβs approval. So, let us not pull him down because power belongs to God. All that is required of us is to pray for the present government to succeed.β
The Supervisory Councillor also commended the administration of Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for what she described as remarkable achievements across various sectors of the stateβs economy.
She particularly praised the governorβs grassroots-oriented approach to governance, expressing satisfaction with the impact of his administration on the people.
βThe government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has really touched the grassroots, and we are proud of him,β she stated.
Emeruo further commended the establishment of Shared Prosperity Coordinators, describing the initiative as a welcome development that would strengthen communication between the government and the people.
According to her, the coordinators would help disseminate government policies, programmes and development initiatives at the grassroots while mobilising support for the government and the APC.
On the forthcoming 2027 general elections, Emeruo expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious, urging party members to support all its candidates across the various elective positions.
She cautioned against selective voting, insisting that party members should demonstrate loyalty by voting for APC candidates from the presidential election down to the House of Assembly elections.
She described selective voting against the partyβs candidates as an act capable of undermining party unity and electoral success.
Earlier in his address, the Ikeduru Local Government Shared Prosperity Coordinator, Ambassador Amadi Daniel Okechukwu, explained that the stakeholdersβ meeting was organised in line with his teamβs mandate to communicate the vision, policies, programmes and development efforts of Governor Hope Uzodimmaβs administration to the grassroots.
He charged ward coordinators to demonstrate discipline, dedication and efficiency in carrying out their responsibilities.
Amadi also urged them to sustain public awareness of government policies and programmes while ensuring that feedback from the people was communicated to the appropriate authorities.
The meeting was attended by APC leaders, supporters and other stakeholders, including Chief Charles Amadi, popularly known as Charvon; Honourable John Leoba Iheoha, a member of the Imo State House of Assembly; and the Ikeduru APC Chairman, Honourable Emmanuel Iwuamadi, among other prominent personalities.
