Mothering Sunday: ISWAI State Coordinator Urges Mothers To Train Girls Godly

As Catholic Church across the world observed Mother’s Sunday, mothers have been urged to train their girls in a goldly way so that they will always imbibe good moral that can help them become useful to themselves, families and the society.

The urge was made by the State Coordinator of Imo State Women Ambassadors International (ISWAI), Amb. Uchechi Ogbonna, while chatting with our reporter in Owerri on Sunday.

She begged mothers to be courageous enough to train their girls well by actively monitoring their activities, the peers they mingle with, the kind of dress they put on, where they go or enter and more importantly train them in the things of God, in formal education and other empowerment skills such as tailoring or sewing, hairdressing, fashion and designing, catering, decorations or even trading.

Ogbonna observed that any well groomed girl cannot go half naked in public or do harlotry or hookup, regretting that moral decadence among girls/ladies is irritatingly prevalent in today’s world, a decay she frowned is getting out of control, saying the ugly trend demonstrates largely that some mothers are lacking in their duty, even though majority of mothers play vital roles to sustain their families.

“Mothering Sunday as observed by Catholic faithful globally purely and largely demonstrates the respect, regard and celebration of women as engine rooms of their households. Indeed, Mothers are nation and family builders.

“They are important in the family, kindred and the community. Hence, I encourage them to keep faith as they intensify effort in training their girls in godly ways so that waywardness among girls reduces minimally in our society. Mothers truly have the obligation to bring back their girls from immorality and uselessness”, Ogbonna stressed.

She therefore cheerfully felicitated with all good mothers especially members of Imo State Women Ambassadors International, praying that God will always sustain them and provide for them as they care for their families and husbands.
