On December 23, 2024, Chief Fidelis Anokam, an American-based native of Obibiezenna, donated cash and tomatoes to 46 women from Obokwe-Amaeze in Imo State. Each woman received ₦50,000 and large three tins of tomatoes paste.
This annual tradition has earned Anokam’s family heartfelt praise, especially for Lolo Dr. Gladys Anokam, who is celebrated for her wisdom and kindness. Chief Anokam expressed joy in supporting his community, noting that many women struggle due to land sold off, by few young men which has led to food insecurity.
He emphasized his commitment to uplifting his people, sharing that last year, the women also received cash and rice. “I believe in bettering lives,” he stated, urging wealthy individuals to assist those in need.
Lolo Dr. Gladys Anokam attributed their generosity to her upbringing, recalling her father’s tradition of giving during the holidays. She pledged to continue his legacy, noting her past efforts to help patients and the community.
In gratitude, Chairlady Mrs. Maria Nkwopara thanked the Anokam family, praying for their health and prosperity. She also mentioned their monthly prayers for the community’s sons and daughters at home and abroad.
