In a landmark move to bolster infrastructure and ease transportation across Nigeria’s capital, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, today officially inaugurated a series of road projects in Abuja, marking a new chapter in the city’s development drive.
The commissioning ceremony, which drew government officials, community leaders, and residents, featured the formal opening of strategic access roads in Kabusa–Takushara, Kabusa–Ketti, and parts of Giri District. These routes are part of a broader initiative to enhance intra-city connectivity and improve quality of life for residents in both urban and satellite communities.
This is not just about roads; it’s about opening doors to opportunity, education, and healthcare for thousands of Abuja residents,” Wike said during the inauguration. “We are determined to bridge the gap between the city centre and its rural suburbs by delivering modern, motorable infrastructure.”
The inaugurated roads are among 14 key projects targeted for completion and commissioning within a two-week period, aligning with the Tinubu administration’s mid-term goals and reflecting the FCT administration’s renewed commitment to service delivery.
Residents of the affected areas praised the development, describing the new roads as “life-changing” and “long overdue.” Local business owners noted the potential for improved trade, while commuters expressed relief over reduced travel times and enhanced safety.
The minister reiterated that today’s commissioning is only the beginning. “We are not stopping here. Abuja must reflect the aspirations of a modern capital city—equitable, efficient, and inclusive,” Wike said.
With the successful launch of these road projects, the FCT Administration sets a strong precedent for sustained infrastructure expansion across Nigeria’s capital.
