Delta Informal Sector Backs Tinubu, Oborevwori for 2027 Re-Election

by admin

More than 10,000 members of the informal sector in Delta State, including market women, artisans, and small-scale traders, have publicly declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement took place during a massive rally in Asaba, organized by various cooperative groups, market associations, and artisan unions. Participants hailed both leaders for their contributions to economic growth, grassroots development, and social inclusion.

According to the organizers, the support is a reflection of the tangible benefits felt by the informal sector under the current administrations. They pointed to federal and state-level programs such as micro-loans, market renovations, training initiatives, and improved access to capital, as key reasons for their decision.

“We believe in continuity,” said Mrs. Oghenekevwe Iyede, a market leader from Ughelli. “The policies of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori have reached the grassroots, especially women and low-income earners. We want them to continue beyond 2027.”

Several speakers also applauded the Oborevwori-led administration for road construction, vocational training schemes, and support for small businesses in Delta State. Artisans from Sapele, Warri, and Asaba voiced optimism about the state’s economic direction under his leadership.

Political observers see the endorsement as a significant signal ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly in the South-South region where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has historically faced stiff competition. Analysts suggest that early grassroots mobilization may give Tinubu and Oborevwori a strategic advantage going into the campaign season.

Though the elections are still two years away, the Delta informal sector’s united voice underscores growing political momentum and hints at an early realignment of support across the state.
