The reception, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Owerri, was organized to celebrate the players’ contribution to Nigeria’s continental success and to honour their roots in Imo State.

The beneficiaries of the governor’s largesse include Chiamaka Nnadozie, Jennifer Echegini, Tochukwu Oluchi, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, and Ifeoma Onumonu. Members of the technical crew from the state were also recognized and rewarded.

Governor Uzodinma lauded the players for their dedication and remarkable performance, which he said brought immense pride not only to Imo State but to the entire nation.

He said the gesture was the state’s way of expressing gratitude and encouraging the athletes to continue making Nigeria proud. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting sports development and ensuring that talents from Imo continue to shine on the global stage.
