His schoolmates, no doubt, had eagerly anticipated his return, unaware they would never see him again. His teachers, who guided him and nurtured his education, will now forever notice the empty seat where he once sat.
The tragedy of this poor child from Mbaise will haunt the community. He tragically lost his life, merely trying to recover his slippers swept away by the powerful waves of the river.
Oh, Onuoma River, why did you not show mercy and spare this young soul? Why did you consume him only to return his lifeless body a day later? Didn’t you realize the impact of this loss could tear apart his family?
