… Political coalition pledges total backing for transformational leadership

The political atmosphere in Imo State is beginning to heat up ahead of the 2027 governorship election as the Consultative Assembly and Coalition of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Progressive Forum has thrown its weight behind Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi.
The influential body, which represents all 63 autonomous communities in Mbaike (comprising Mbaitoli and Ikeduru LGAs), made the endorsement during a widely attended meeting in Owerri. The coalition also announced its full integration into the political structure backing Amadi’s ambition, describing him as the most competent and visionary candidate capable of repositioning the state.
Speaking at the event, the National President of the coalition, Ambassador Steve Nnadi, stated that the group’s support followed a detailed, unbiased evaluation of aspirants from the three senatorial zones of the state. He said Amadi emerged as the clear choice based on his qualifications, experience, and proven leadership capacity.
According to Nnadi, Imo has endured years of underperformance, administrative inconsistency, and policy failures. He lamented that despite the state’s human and material potential, the people continue to suffer from poverty, unemployment, and deteriorating infrastructure.
Nnadi added that the decision to back Amadi was motivated by the need to halt the decline and install a leader with the vision and competence to steer the state on a path of progress.
The coalition expressed discontent with the performance of successive administrations in the state, pointing to years of stagnation under various past governments. It said the time had come for a fundamental shift in direction, and that Chima Amadi represents that fresh start.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General of the political movement supporting Amadi, Chief Henry Onwukwe, described the candidate as a leader with the character, intellect, and willpower to deliver on the hopes of Imo people. He said Amadi has demonstrated uncommon commitment to youth development, economic empowerment, and transparent governance.
Onwukwe decried the misuse of the state’s federal allocations and internally generated revenues, stating that despite the vast resources at its disposal, Imo has continued to reel under poor governance and a lack of visionary leadership.
He urged citizens, particularly the youth, to rise above political apathy and actively support the movement to restore Imo’s lost glory. He assured members of the coalition that the campaign would remain people-driven, focused on service delivery, and committed to building a better future for all.
The endorsement of Chima Amadi by the Mbaike Consultative Forum is seen as a major boost to his candidacy, especially given the strategic political importance of the Mbaitoli and Ikeduru axis in determining electoral outcomes in Imo State.
