Tensions are rising within the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a public outburst by Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Jones Onwuasyoanya, who accused former House of Representatives member, Henry Nwawuba, of political betrayal and poor performance.

Onwuasyoanya, in a statement shared via social media, questioned Nwawuba’s commitment to the APC, suggesting that his recent political actions indicate he may be a mole working against the party. He accused the former lawmaker, who currently serves as the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, of using his position to potentially support opposition forces in the state.

He further criticized Nwawuba’s legislative record, claiming his eight-year tenure representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency failed to yield any meaningful impact for his constituents. Onwuasyoanya also highlighted Nwawuba’s shifting party affiliations during the 2023 general elections, noting his unsuccessful attempts to secure the PDP and APGA tickets before rejoining the APC, which he described as opportunistic.

The statement has drawn widespread attention, not only because of its intensity but also due to the silence from both the state government and the leadership of the APC. Political observers believe the development is a sign of internal rifts that may deepen ahead of the 2027 elections and the 2028 race to succeed Governor Uzodimma.

As of the time of this report, Henry Nwawuba has not issued any public response to the allegations.
