Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has announced the arrest and confession of the primary suspect in the gruesome murder of a former Chairman of Ideato North Local Government Area, who was beheaded two years ago. The development was disclosed in an official statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku.
According to the statement, the arrested suspect has confessed to the killing and has also identified several individuals allegedly involved in orchestrating the act. This has led to a new wave of investigations, with some of the named individuals already invited by the police and placed under interrogation.
Governor Uzodimma confirmed that law enforcement agencies are stepping up efforts to uncover the full network behind the murder. He assured the public that more suspects will be invited and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring that everyone found culpable in the heinous act faces justice without exception. He described the killing as barbaric and unacceptable, reiterating that his administration will not tolerate violence or impunity.
The murder of the former LGA chairman shocked the state and raised serious concerns over rising insecurity and politically motivated attacks in the region. With this confession and ongoing investigations, the case has moved forward toward resolution.
The Governor urged residents to remain calm and allow security agencies to do their job, stressing that the rule of law will prevail and justice will be served in due course.
