President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Rinsola Abiola, daughter of the late Chief MKO Abiola, as the new Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC). The move is part of the government’s broader effort to revitalise civic education and leadership development programmes across the country.

Rinsola Abiola, a communications strategist and youth development advocate, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President, focusing on civic responsibility initiatives and institutional reforms. Her appointment carries symbolic significance, given her father’s legacy as the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election and a prominent pro-democracy figure.

Alongside her appointment, President Tinubu named Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership. Ja’oji, known for his work in youth mobilisation, has served as Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor and as a member of the Governing Council of Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups.

The CLTC, which is tasked with promoting leadership skills, national unity, and civic engagement, is expected to receive renewed direction under its new leadership, with an emphasis on connecting more effectively with Nigeria’s youth and expanding training programmes nationwide.
