A Group of church pastors, in Imo State have issued a statement, accusing the structured crime syndicates in human trafficking, organ harvesting, arm smuggling and other terrorism organizations of using the social media platforms to secretly attack and tarnish the reputation of the Imo State Police command and the commander in charge of the Anti- kidnap Unit ( TIGER BASE) ACP Ola because he has vehemently refused to allow them to turn Imo State into a fertile ground for criminal activities .
According to the Statements by the clerics, " the top agents of crimes in the state should stop coming to the social media platforms with unsubstantiated claims. Addressing the newsmen in Owerri last Monday, the leader of the group , Pastor Charles Egbuka humbly insisted that no right thinking person can admit allegations on inmate maltreatment, organ harvesting, bail fees, without a clear evidence. Also, the statement, challenged any victim of Tiger Base brutality, to come with proofs or write a petition to the Police Authority or come and see the Tiger Base Police Unit Commander and submit his or complain against erring police officers. That one can start crying for public help, only when the complains are not treated as expected" He condemned the unwholesome act of using an informal and unlicensed platforms to secretly cast aspersion on constituted disciplinary authorities like the police, when you have both the social and the constitutional freedom to seek a redress from its higher authorities.
While calling on the Office of the Inspector General of Police, the Federal Government and members of the public to ignore the social media blackmails , Pastor Egbuka lamented that ,even the recently sponsored social media bashing on the Imo Police Tiger Base, is obviously not unconnected with same agents of the state enemies who are under investigation for the violent attacks on; Police Formations, Government Offices, court properties, correctional facilities and the bloody attacks on innocent citizens since 2021.He noted that the greater percentage of Imo sons and daughters , are celebrating the achievements by the Tiger Base in the area of combating against these gangs, cartels, mafias in criminal enterprises with sophisticated networks that operate like legitimate businesses aimed at conducting illegal activities within the Imo State. He conclusively affirm that without the Tiger Base Unit, some humans in form of hawks will be harvesting their fellow humans like mere chickens.
Fielding questions from newsmen on his own assessment about the Imo Police Tiger Base, a prominent indigene, Chief Ogbonna Anselem discloses that since he returned from the United States of America , that he has closely monitored all the claims against the Tiger Base, and found no truth. He expressed that Imo people especially the law abiding citizens, have unwavering confidence in the Imo State Police Command as one of the best gift to Imo people. He expressed gratitude to ACP Oladimeji for always applying the lawful measures in the discharge of his duties.
Meanwhile, on the month 19th December 2023 ,it would be recalled that ,one of the leading newspapers in the South East, called the Hero Express Newspaper ,published in page 11, that Imo citizens have passed a vote of confidence on CP Aboki Danjuma and CSP Ola as very credible hands in crime fighting and prevention.
