In a celebration of royalty, impact, commitment to public safety and security, as well as exceptional service delivery, the Traditional Ruler of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community in Orlu LGA of Imo State, has conferred prestigious chieftaincy title of ‘Ikeoha I, on a distinguished police officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Obikezie Loveday.

The event which took place on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Eze Igwe’s Palace, triggered a moment of pride, joy and deep cultural significance.

The beautiful ceremony, held amid pomp and pageantry, celebrated CSP Obikezie, an officer who has earned widespread public commendations and admiration for his excellent service delivery, unwavering commitment to public safety and security, and remarkable contributions to the restoration of peace and stability in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community and its environs.

It was also particularly colourful and symbolic, as it also marked the coronation of Eze Aloysius Igwe as the ‘Ezeoma II’ and ‘Chinemeze I’ of the community. The historic occasion drew dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria, reflecting the importance of the monarch’s ascension and the esteem in which CSP Obikezie is held.

There were outbursts of joy and celebration as community members and guests expressed delight that CSP Obikezie was found worthy of the prestigious chieftaincy title. Many described the honour as well deserved, noting that he had served humanity and the community — which is also his maternal home — in extraordinary and selfless ways.

While performing the conferment, Eze Igwe expressed great delight in CSP Obikezie Loveday, describing him as a great son who has made the community and the larger society proud in the discharge of his professional duties.

The monarch stated that the chieftaincy title was attracted by CSP Obikezie’s good works, dedication and exemplary service. He offered royal blessings and prayers for the officer, urging him to remain steadfast and to continue his selfless service to humanity and the community in particular.

The ceremony, which also featured conferment of chieftaincy titles on other recipients, witnessed stunning cultural displays.

However, the spotlight remained on CSP Obikezie, who received massive solidarity, while traditional dances, music and chants vividly demonstrated the people’s joy and overwhelming approval of the honour bestowed upon him.

In his response, CSP Obikezie congratulated Eze Igwe, on his ascension to the throne and expressed profound gratitude to the monarch and the people of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri community for finding him worthy of such a prestigious honour.

He pledged to strengthen his efforts and commitment towards ensuring sustained peace and security in the community and beyond. He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to support security agencies in the collective task of making the area crime-free.

CSP Obikezie Loveday, who is also the Commander of CP’s Surveillance Unit, Imo State Police Headquarters, Owerri, attributed his successes to the visionary and proactive leaderships of IGP Kayode Egbetokun and CP Aboki Danjuma at the federal and state levels respectively, and solicited support and cooperation with police authorities in crime-fighting.

Ikeoha I of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri, who has received several awards from different quarters, was accompanied to the ceremony by his wife, Mrs. Nkechi Jennifer Obikezie, who also received ‘Lolo Omasiridiya’ title, family members, friends, colleagues, community members and numerous well-wishers, who joined in celebrating the landmark recognition of a life devoted to service.

Inquiries revealed that CSP Obikezie Loveday is widely admired because of his deep reverence for God, spirit of teamwork and accomodation, approachability, dedication to duties, detective skills, combat readiness and professionalism among his other good qualities which he employ while discharging his duties.

He has attended many professional courses, acquiring vast knowledge through exposure to many working experiences. He is described among close friends as a bridge builder who has consistently exemplified commendable professionalism to its highest standards in line with the rules of engagement as an officer.
