The golden age (50 years ) of Imo State after it’s creation in 3rd February, 1976 has marked a clear turning point in the political history of the state with the manifestation of era of young people in governance.
The youths and new generation leaders in Imo State has joyfully celebrated the 50 years Cum jubilee celebration of her state – Imo but has resolved that the era of Imo Young People in governance have come. In fact, this resolution which was championed by Dr Emma Amaefule has awaken Imo Young People as he carried his consultation message on effective good governance to different youth groups, organizations and to many critical stakeholders in Owerri Zone, Orlu zone and Okigwe Zone within the past four months ago.
Interestingly, this initiative has brought unity of purpose, better understanding and clarity of vision among the young people for better Imo State. Again, this unity currently among the Imo young people has given birth to a new massive coilation structure known as Imo Young People’s Movement, now in each of the 27 local government areas of Imo State.
Speaking to newsmen in owerri, the leader of the Imo Young People’s Movement Dr. Emma Amaefule assured that a new era of young people has just began in Imo State with a mandate to introduce credible young leaders in governance, who will sustain the good legacies of our past leaders who have served the state as governor’s. According to Dr. Emma Amaefule he said,” Indeed, a new era has began in Imo politics because the young people have woken up to get things right. In fact, Imo Young People are no longer expectators, but now critical stakeholders in shaping the political destiny of Imo State. No doubt, the Imo young people are willing to translate ideas into good policies and lasting impacts, aim to promote the state economy and the well being of her people”.
In another development, the leader of the Imo Young People’s Movement Dr. Emma Amaefule maintained that the youths are the pillars in the building of Imo State, and it will be wrong if we intend to build for better Imo State with a neglect of the strong pillars which are the young people in governance. Also adding that it is evident, the future belongs to societies that invest and believe in their youths, not in exploiting them during election periods.
” The Imo Young People’s Movement under my leadership is focus to establish a leadership that understands development as a system. And ensure a government leadership that is rooted in integrity, competence, inclusivity, good governance and effective service for the people” – Dr. Emma Amaefule said.
It was gathered that the unity of purpose initiated by Dr Emma Amaefule among the Imo Young People has led to the collapse of many structures, interests and defection of many young people into Imo State APC across the 27 local government areas of the state. Again, this development led to the formation of a formidable coilation structure of Imo Young leaders across the state, charged with a mandate to ensure maximum support to the governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma led 3R administration in Imo State.
